University Archives Poster Collection, 1935-ongoing.

The University Archives Poster Collection was compiled by University Archives staff from a variety of sources. The collection consists of approximately 1,600 posters, event calendars, programs and flyers publicizing various campus events, including movies, lectures, literary events, musical and theatrical performances (including Hoof 'N' Horn, Duke Players, and Duke Drama), concerts (including Duke ensemble groups and outside major attractions), art exhibitions, and festivals. Also included are basketball (men's and women's) team posters. Dates of the posters range from 1935 to the present, but a majority of the posters ranges from 1970-1989.

Richard Halleck Brodhead became Duke's ninth president on July 1, 2004, after a 32-year career at Yale University. In addition to serving as president, he is a professor of English at Duke. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he graduated from Yale in 1968 and received his Ph.D. there in 1972. He then joined the Yale faculty, where he became the A.
